Hi Vis Workwear – Important Matters Any Employer and Employee Should Be Aware Of

There is a staggering amount of employees who gets injured at work every single day. Nobody wants to be one of the unlucky ones ushered to the emergency room. Workers stand a much better chance of staying safe if they’re wearing the proper hi vis workwear as they work, which their company should be providing for them free of charge.

Most jobs will require different things depending on certain criteria, but a good company should know exactly what their staff will need. Hivis vests are the most common item of clothing employees receive, but they might also be given reflective shirts, jackets, and even trousers in some cases. The main reason vests come as standard is because employees can always throw them over the top of anything else they're wearing. They are greatly appreciated in winter when people can wear warm clothes underneath their vest.

Everyone needs to know companies are also responsible for providing employees with all other PPE equipment required for the job. Gloves, goggles, and safety boots are just some workwear clothing that can be provided. They need to be worn at all times without fail, because they can't protect anyone if they're sitting in the boot of their car gathering dust. Over the course of a few months or years, safety equipment is going to become unusable due to wear and tear. Gloves will end up with holes in them, vests will become less visible, and things even go missing. Employees need to report this to their employer straight away and they'll be provided with replacements.

If an employee hasn't been provided with hi vis workwear or other safety equipment, they should speak to their company as soon as possible. Once everyone is provided with the correct clothing and equipment, it drastically reduces the amount of dangerous incidents happening on site.
