DTF Printing for Workwear & Hi-Vis: Full-Colour Branding Without the Limitations
We’re always looking for ways to make ordering branded workwear easier, faster and more flexible. That’s why we’ve added Direct to Film (DTF) printing to our garment branding capabilities.
DTF printing allows us to reproduce detailed, full-colour company logos and designs onto a wide range of workwear and suitable hi-vis garments, delivering a smart, professional finish without many of the restrictions associated with traditional garment printing methods.
What is DTF Printing?
DTF stands for Direct to Film.
Your logo or design is digitally printed in full colour onto a specialist transfer film. An adhesive is then applied before the finished transfer is heat pressed directly onto the garment.
The result is a sharp, vibrant and durable print capable of reproducing considerably more detail and colour than many traditional transfer methods.
Full-Colour Logos
One of the biggest advantages of DTF is its ability to reproduce full-colour artwork.
Company logos containing several colours, gradients, shading or small details can be reproduced accurately without having to simplify the design into a limited number of colours.
This means your branded workwear can much more closely match your company’s actual brand identity.
Excellent Detail & Print Quality
DTF is particularly effective for detailed logos, small text and intricate designs.
The digital printing process produces crisp lines, strong colours and excellent definition, helping create professional-looking garments that your employees will be happy to wear.
Ideal for Smaller Orders
Traditional screen printing can be extremely cost-effective for large quantities, but setup requirements can make it less practical for smaller runs.
DTF gives us much greater flexibility.
Whether you require a small number of garments for new starters, additional uniforms for an existing team or a larger branded workwear order, DTF allows us to produce professional full-colour branding without requiring huge quantities.
Great for Personalisation
DTF also makes individual garment personalisation much easier.
Alongside your company logo, garments can be produced with individual:
- Employee names
- Job titles
- Departments
- Site names
- Numbers
- Additional branding
This makes DTF particularly useful for businesses managing uniforms across multiple employees, departments or locations.
Suitable for a Wide Range of Workwear
DTF printing can be used on many of the garments we already supply, including:
- T-shirts
- Polo shirts
- Sweatshirts
- Hoodies
- Jackets
- Work trousers
- Corporate clothing
- Suitable hi-vis garments
Our team can advise on the most appropriate branding method for the particular garment and application.
DTF vs Embroidery
Embroidery remains an excellent option for workwear and is particularly popular on polo shirts, fleeces, softshell jackets and corporate clothing.
However, some logos simply work better as a print.
Highly detailed artwork, very small lettering and logos containing multiple colours or gradients can often be reproduced more accurately using DTF.
There is also no need to convert the design into thousands of individual stitches, helping retain the finer details of the original artwork.
Rather than replacing embroidery, DTF gives us another option to ensure we use the most appropriate branding method for each garment, logo and application.
A Durable Finish for Working Environments
Workwear needs to cope with considerably more than an ordinary fashion garment.
DTF transfers are designed to provide a flexible and durable finish that can withstand regular wear and washing when the garment’s recommended care instructions are followed.
That makes the process well suited to professional uniforms and everyday workwear.
Faster, More Flexible Workwear Branding
Bringing additional printing capability into our production offering gives us greater control over the finished product and provides our customers with more branding options.
Most importantly, it means we can offer businesses a more flexible way of ordering professionally branded workwear — whether that’s a handful of garments for new starters or a complete uniform rollout.
