Builders Wear High Visibility Jackets For Breast Cancer Awareness
Builders and sales staff at the David Wilson Homes Autumn
Brook Housing Development have donned bright pink high visibility jackets in a
bid to raise money for Breast Cancer Now’s annual Wear It Pink fundraising
scheme.
Louise Ware, sales and marketing director, was quoted
by the Gazette Series as saying: “After spending the rest of the year in
yellow high-visibility gear our staff always look forward to having a bit of
fun and donning a more unusual colour on Wear It Pink day. They certainly
turned some heads as visitors came to see the new homes at our development.”
This is such a great use of high visibility clothing that we
hope it really catches on for other companies in the construction sector and
elsewhere. Last year, staff at Barratt Homes Manchester work
pink hard hats, jackets and other workwear to show their support for Breast
Cancer Awareness Month in October.
And McGee employees took similar action last year as well,
with over 800 staff, main contractors and sub-contractors wearing
pink to help raise awareness for the campaign, which takes place every
October. They also took it one step further and made a Wear It Pink video that
was mixed together with information about the campaign and stories from breast
cancer survivors.
Each year, the Wear It Pink scheme raises about £2 million
during October for Breast Cancer Now. All people have to do is wear something pink
and then donate whatever they can. The money is used to fund world-class breast
cancer researchers around the UK and Ireland.
