BBC presenter Jeremy Vine has exposed a female motorist who had a bout of road rage when he was cycling by posting a video footage of the incident on the internet.
Vine published the footage, recorded on his helmet-mounted cameras, to social networking site Facebook on Tuesday (August 30th).
When driving in Kensington last Friday, the black car behind him, which had been beeping aggressively, stopped close to the bike when Vine came to a halt. The driver then stepped out of the vehicle and shouted a tirade of abuse at the Radio 2 presenter.
“Move your bike, move your bike. I could have hit you and I’d be done for a murder,” the woman said, as well as several expletives.
After she returned to the car and the pair starting moving again, they came to blows once more just 30 seconds later. She tailed him closely before approaching him at a red light.
The motorist warned Vine not to take a picture of her vehicle or else “I’m going to knock you out because that’s my personal belonging”.
Vine, 51, shared the footage on Facebook, telling the public that he felt the person on the recording would “hurt someone very badly” in the future.
The broadcaster’s experience is unfortunately not the only dangerous thing that can happen when riding a bike on the roads.
Indeed, Carol Boardman, mother to Olympic cyclist Chris, was killed when her bike collided with a pick-up truck in north Wales. The keen rider sadly died after being taken to hospital, according
to the BBC.This incident highlights the importance of
wearing high-visibility clothing to help prevent collisions happening in the future by making other traffic more aware of your presence on the road.
