Wear High Visibility Clothing On Night Walks
Taking part in
midnight walks to raise money for charity is certainly commendable and not something that you should ever think about not doing, but it is important that you keep yourself as safe as you can while giving back to the local community.
If you and your children are keen to take part in such events this year, make sure that you all dress up appropriately in high visibility clothing. This could include
shirts, jackets or shorts, or you could even opt for a high visibility bag so that motorists can easily spot you if the night walk involves taking a stroll along a busy main road.
Those of you unable to find anything high vis should wear clothes that are as brightly coloured as possible to make sure you stand out.
Aside from high-vis clothes, you’d also be wise to wear sensible and comfortable shoes so that your feet don’t give up on you halfway along the route. Make sure you have a jumper with you as, even though it’s summer, it can get quite chilly, especially if you’re out walking in the countryside.
And you’d certainly be wise to bring some refreshments with you in case it takes you longer than you thought to complete the route. Bring a cereal bar, a bottle of water and some chocolate to keep you going.
Doing charity work is something to be commended but you need to know that you’re as prepared as possible before you set off just in case something happens.
